I was entertained by the film 2012 at best. It gave you amazing visuals and a story that wasn't new but fun to watch, a little annoying that every moment was an escape by inches... but Roland Emmerich loves to destroy the earth and let's face it... he makes it look good. The score to 2012 delivers just that as well and not much more. There are some great action tracks here which do a good job of conveying the earth-wide destruction happening in the film, and a few nice dramatic themes here too. "The End Is Only The Beginning" is a nice closing track. But I felt it was really missing a theme, something recognizable that you could cheer for when you hear it. It reminds me of Armageddon which in my opinion had an awesome score, much better than 2012. If Trevor Rabin had written 2012 it would have been a much more exciting score.
Also like Armageddon, the film ended with two rock tracks, "Time For Miracles" featuring Adam Lambert and "Fades Like A Photograph" by Filter. But again, maybe they should've followed Rabin's lead and used one of these as a theme in the film. Just a thought.
