There's no doubt here that Marco Beltrami was attempting to bring the feel of the Ennio Morricone 'spaghetti western' style to a new audienceand I think he did extremely well. He's always been good at rhythm and texture in his scores, utilizing more non-traditional instruments, and in 3:10 To Yuma I feel he succeeded in paying homage to the classic western while still giving us a new take from his perspective. Using different guitars, strings, trumpets and a unique percussion style, Beltrami gives us a very rich and textured score to a violent and gritty film, that leaves you with a stylish and fun listening experience.
